2007 Broward County Fair to Set the Stage “Hollywood-Style”

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Prize animals, rides, cotton candy, action! “It’s Showtime” – that’s the theme for the 2007 Broward County Fair, as it gets ready to celebrate its 32 nd year of showcasing agriculture, education and community in a movie-theme style spectacle.

With over 100 rides, games and attractions in store, the Fair is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of fairgoers of all ages for family entertainment this November. The 2007 Broward County Fair is set to take place at Fort Lauderdale Stadium, next to Lockhart Stadium, from Thursday, November 15 to Sunday, November 25.

“The Broward County Fair is all about family fun and community spirit," boasts Ina Nadler, Executive Director of the Fair. “There's something for everyone - the food, the colorful sights, sounds and smells, even the people-watching. Children love the rides, animals, student exhibits and the contests. Seniors enjoy the nostalgia and remember days gone by."

New this year is a 5,000 gallon shark-filled tank where noted expert Phillip Peters takes a swim with his sharp-toothed friends and educates the audience about them. It's in an arena called "Jawz," sponsored by Metro PCS, one of several entertainment areas based on movie themes this year. Others include:

• Charlotte’s Web Arena – a return of the famous racing pigs which captivated

audiences a few years ago.

• The Secret Garden Tent - student landscaping exhibits

• OK Corral - an old-time country store, crafts and storytelling expanded from

past years

• Over the Rainbow – towering characters from Oz roam the fairgrounds

• Showtime Stage – featuring the Best of Broward dance, talent, bands, Miss

Broward contests, on-the-spot competitions, karate demos and more.

Other family-style entertainment areas such as the 4-H Expo tent and animal arena will showcase Broward County’s number one revenue producer - agribusiness -- as well as feature thousands of student art and science exhibits.

This year’s Fair includes long-time favorites such as pet pageants (Critter Crowning), prize cows, chickens and rabbits, community talent shows and pie eating contests. The Fair also offers a midway of popular rides provided by Reithoffer Shows, one of the most respected carnival show companies in North America.

Each day, the Fair features a special event such as the Miss Broward County Fair Finals, The Festival Flea Market Mall Senior Day, Noche Latina, and School Spirit Night sponsored by Keiser University.
