First Ladies of Broward 2007 Class
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- They are the "First Ladies of Broward". . . outstanding women chosen each year by a Broward County Fair committee. The committee selected these women for their strong commitment and dedication to the community. They will be honored on Wednesday, October 17, at the First Ladies of Broward Lunch, hosted by the Fair, presented by John The Baker Restaurants and co-sponsored by Bank of America Viva Broward! at the Signature Grand in Davie.
"All of the First Ladies have made a difference in providing a better quality of life in this community,” said Ina Nadler, Executive Director of the Broward County Fair, in announcing this year's list. “Too often, the efforts and achievements by community leaders go unnoticed.”
The 12th annual event will recognize:
Dr. Eloise McCoy-Cain – Chair, Upsilon Xi Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha
Beatriz Canals – Anchor, WBFS-MY33 & WFOR-CBS4

The event is made possible by the support of individuals attending the luncheon and those corporations who support community responsibility. John Scinicariello, owner of “John The Baker” Restaurants, greatly advanced this cause by becoming its Presenting Sponsor in 2006 and 2007.
Viva Broward! was created in 1987 to celebrate Hispanic Heritage and to highlight the rich cultural contributions of Hispanics in Broward. This month-long calendar of events brings together the diverse Latino population, as well as offers opportunities for other cultures to learn more about their neighbors.
All proceeds will benefit the Broward County Fair Education Scholarship and Awards Fund. The Fair, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to enriching the lives of our children. Now in its 32nd year, the Fair has contributed more than $2 million to education and is the premier showcase for Broward’s vast agri-business community. The Broward County Fair runs November 15 - 25 at Fort Lauderdale Stadium, adjacent to Lockhart Stadium.
